On April 27 and 28th, 2017 an Educate the Educators event was held in Manila, Philippines at the National Engineering Center on the University of the Philippines campus. Ramsey Honored with IGS-NA Service Award
Yours truly was recently mentioned in the most recent article of the IGS News.
One of three IGS regional conferences held in 2016, the GeoAmericas 2016 Conference in Miami Beach, Florida attracted over 1100 participants from all areas of the world, 80 exhibitors, along with several related association exhibits and meetings.
Continuous Monitoring of Barrier Integrity
It is now possible to confirm the performance of a geosynthetic barrier system on a continuing “real-time” basis. While this is relatively new technology the performance has been very impressive. Cost are, of course, higher when installing continuous monitoring, but they are certainly very reasonable relative to the potential costs of spills and environmental contamination at more dangerous and critical sites (hazardous wastes, slurry and mobile liquid containments and sites with existing environmental issues).
Breathtaking new (old) philosophy for website content
Boyd Ramsey, who will open a new consultancy beginning in 2017 has developed a website as a modern promotional tool. A common part of individual websites is a blog or a “news” page. Well, I have successful avoided the temptation to create a blog… the world will have to wait, or not care, if I ate chicken or fish today, what my opinions about the latest human foolishness might be.
